Common Conditions Requiring Chiropractic Care

Our clinic treats a wide variety of conditions, illnesses, and injuries. Read on to learn more and find out how our treatment can help.

Arthritis

Arthritis is the condition in which the joints that connect our bones become inflamed, causing pain and locking up of the region. Arthritis can come in the form of osteoarthritis – caused by physical trauma or aging - and rheumatoid arthritis, which is an autoimmune disorder.

These forms and other forms of arthritis are treated through chiropractic involving physical adjustments of the joints in order to reduce pain and improve flexibility.

Back Pain

Back pain can be caused by a multitude of sources, such as strained muscles, herniated discs, torn ligaments, and misaligned vertebrae. These can occur due to the simple stresses of everyday life, or can be induced by trauma from work or automobile accidents.

Chiropractic care treats back pain through physical manipulation of the spine, leading to reduced pain and minimize the need for medication and painkillers.

Disc Herniation

The connective tissue between our spine’s vertebrae are known as “discs”, which cushion vertebrae and make sure they don’t grind against each other. However, age, stress, and other trauma can cause these discs to rupture, leading to acute pain, numbness, and fatigue. When this happens, it is known as a “herniated disc.”

For those wishing to avoid surgical or other invasive treatments, chiropractic offers a means of treating herniated discs by relieving the pressure on the joints and nerves, allowing the body to use its natural healing process to greater effect.

Headaches

Headaches come in a wide variety, such as tension headaches, cervicogenic headaches, migraines, and cluster headaches. Some headaches can be caused by pinched nerves in the neck and the spine. If this is the case, the chiropractor can perform adjustments to these areas, reducing tension on the nerve and relieving the pain induced by the headaches.

Neck Pain

Like back pain and headaches, neck pain can be caused by a variety of factors, such as stress, strenuous exercise, aging, poor posture, and injury. Strained muscles and joint injuries in the neck can also cause pain in other areas, such as inducing cervicogenic headaches.

Chiropractic care involves adjustments to the neck in order relieve this pain, as well as restore muscle and joint functionality.

Pinched Nerves

Pinched nerves can result from vertebral subluxation, herniated discs, strained muscles, and injuries. Pinched nerves disrupt the communication of your central nervous system, resulting in numbness, acute pain, or a burning sensation.

Often, these pinched nerves can be caused by misalignment of the spinal cord, inflamed joints, or can arise due to poor posture. An adjustment from a chiropractor can help rectify this issue, taking pressure off the nerves and relieving the pain.

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis is a pain in the heel of the foot, caused by inflammation, fibrosis, and structural degradation. Often, this condition is caused by over-exertion and standing for long periods of time. Chiropractic treatment is recommended for this condition, as if left untreated, Plantar Fasciitis can lead to further issues in the knees, legs, and other joints.

Sciatica

Sciatica is caused by the compression of the sciatic nerve in the lower back, leading to lower back pain and upper leg pain. This compression can be due to disc herniation, strain from pregnancy, or in some cae tumors. Studies have shown that chiropractic care can be an effective treatment for some forms of Sciatica.

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a condition in which the spine is heavily curved, which can result in uneven posture, prominent shoulder blade on one side, and uneven arm lengths. While surgery and bracing are the most common treatments used for treating scoliosis, chiropractic treatment is effective in preventing further curvature of the spine.
