What are Subluxations?

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines a chiropractic vertebral subluxation as “a lesion or dysfunction in a joint or motion segment in which alignment, movement integrity and/or physiological function are altered . . . which may influence biomechanical and neural integrity.”

Essentially, this means that when your joints are not aligned properly, and it can adversely affect your body’s biology. This is especially in true in the spine, where misaligned vertebrae can place pressure upon your nerves, which in turn diminishes the communication between your central nervous system and the rest of your body. Not only can this cause back and neck pain, but also pain and conditions in other areas of your body.

Chiropractic care diagnoses and treats these subluxations, in an attempt to clear up these neural pathways, realigning your vertebrae, restoring communication between your nervous system and your body, treating your condition and improving your overall health.

Subluxation diagnosis involves a physical examination by a chiropractor, and in some cases may require an X-Ray examination.
